Best of 2012's Fall Flavored Interior Trends

Today I'm on the hunt for 2012's Interior Fall trends, just because. I have always been curious to learn how anything becomes a trend...tie dye, Formica, avocado green kitchen appliances...and America's new-age revolution, for that matter. I've wondered what came first: the drawing board or the fashion police? And although it does seems rather inappropriate to follow home decor trends in this state of destitution, I thought it was worth mentioning because trend inspiration seems to be turning into something more organically conceived and independently motivated. For me, its not so much about making a crowd surfing dash for the newest shiniest "thing" as it is about observing how our lifestyle shifts set the stage for certain nostalgic- appropriate interventions in ways that make these timeless tangibles strum at our heart strings and light up our lives. To me trends are the result of experimentation with elements of the past and cleverly transforming them into something relevant and sensibly comforting for today. In other words ladies and gentiles, horses and reptiles, what is so exciting is that this year's fall trend is basically RETRO-active. Which it always is in my brain.

Anyway, I bumped into this blog from the UK Trend Bible last spring when they were predicting this fall's trends-and I must say, thoroughly impressed by their precision. So I had to borrow their Fall/Winter 2012/2013 report. It is inspiring and gratifying at once because what I only thought I knew was happening is indeed happening and so I would think it will give others the confidence to cultivate their styles intuitively as well. You don't need money to be stylish, just a bit of insight and a lot of heart.

So the next time you entertain the thought of a home facelift get swanky and check out the fashion runways, because you'll surely notice an intentional parallel between home and fashion that inspires a fresh perspective, if only for a season. You won't have to bother getting decked out to entertain because your home will do it for ya!

Ciao for now...
